The latest addition to the style file. I've always had a preference for "tough girl" looks as opposed to the whole pretty thing. If I'm going to a wedding I wear a black dress. If I'm going to wear a white tee I'm going to pair it with super tight dark denim and a bold shoulder blazer. A frilly blouse is almost always topped off with a leather jacket. It's how I'm most comfortable and I will say it is the one thing I have definitely nailed down about my personal style.

Some more examples...

What aspects of your personal style have you defined?

I've been searching forever for a way to crop my boyfriend jeans so they're actually wearable. The length is 32" which is long on me anyway and because the jeans are meant to be low-slung they fall even longer. You'd think heels would be the solution but they're so long they hide the whole shoe and still drag on the ground. I'm afraid to just crop them because then they might make me look short and fat. First world problems anyone?

Maybe something different is in order.

What if... when I cut off the bottom section which will be considerable, to make them ankle length, I then take the extra fabric, turn it inside out, and sew it back on the bottom of the pants...

Mirrored subway tile is a no brainer.

1. No grout lines.
2. Easily cleaned with Windex.
3. Visually expands small kitchen spaces.

Joanna Hillman in an amazing leather jacket and Alexander Wang shoes. Also tights under thin pants! Great solution for cold weather and combining the capri pant with a bootie or other closed toe shoe. Keep it monochromatic and the tights opaque please.

The other interesting trend we've started seeing again is pleated pants a la the 80's. *shiver* Years ago I fell in love with a Club Monaco skirt that was pleated in the front with a very exaggerated bubble shape which made my ass look tremendous and my stomach look even larger. Did I care? No. Looking as thin as possible shouldn't always be the goal. How boring would that be...

.. of Personal Style

So I've been utilizing the "inspiration" tag since the beginning of blogging but since I view everything as inspiration I'll be narrowing this section down to only the things I add to my personal inspiration files. Those files include;

Beauty, Closet, DIY, Hair, Health, Home, Rings, and Style

"Beauty" or how I wish I could do my makeup if only I was even a tad bit capable in that arena.

"Closet" or my goals for organization of my most precious belongings. I think it's important to surround yourself with examples of people who do things better than you do.

"DIY" projects that will get started but probably never finished unless they're really, really easy. I crochet did I ever tell you that?

"Hair" or what I would do to it if I had any balls at all. One must always be prepared for the day they grow a set.

"Health" and it is important that this file be realistic people! Or not.

"Home" and also where I store cafe inspiration.

"Rings" I created this folder specifically for wedding planning when I was finding it impossible to decide on a ring and decided why not decide on several!

And finally "Style" the most important, most often used and the largest file. And here, my most recent addition.

Feeling UNINSPIRED! I hate Spring.

These make me feel better though. So far I have not bought into the wedge sneaker trend but I think this may be my opportunity.

Those aren't Ash, they're Isabel Marant and much more expensive. The Bowie will do just fine thank you.

That's right I'm still posting about NYFW. See sometimes procrastinating has its advantages, like when it's April and you're incredibly uninspired by the plethora of tank tops and bikinis dominating the retail landscape and you still have these little nuggets of inspiration to blab on about from NYFW. You're welcome!

Let's here it for the boys...

Well helloooooo.

My dress for my birthday weekend...

Get yours at Zara (or online!) but if you show up to the same place I'll be wearing your new dress I will punch you in the neck

That's right. Despite the cankle "situation" I will be wearing an actual dress this weekend at some point if only around the house. And with open-toe, ankle-strap heels no less...

what's happened to me?

Club Monaco Will Finally Launch E-Commerce This Week

YES! This is huge. "Finally" is an understatement. Currently, the only place to buy Club Monaco merchandise is either in the stores or on Shopbop. And while Shopbop does an excellent job of curating the collection and choosing the most sellable pieces, I have a completion problem and I want to know everything they have to offer. Browsing the selection on Shopbop I always felt I was missing the really good stuff.

I used to write term papers in college on the internet's role in fashion and whether click-and-mortar would beat out bricks-and-mortar over the long haul. I still believe that stores will be a necessity for many reasons, not the least of which is branding, but with the recent launch of Zara US e-commerce and now Club Monaco, fashion is finally beginning to catch on to the limitless possibilities of an online presence.

Plus, I'm convinced they did this for my birthday. Thank you Club Monaco. I'm touched.
