.. of Closets

Just everything. Yes.

When I was a kid I had a carpeted walk-in closet and it was situated above the main staircase so the floor sloped with the ceiling above the staircase. I used to sit there on the floor in the closet for hours just hanging out on the slope contemplating life as we do when we're five. I remember one particularly unfortunate day when I discovered a glass of milk I had left in there from one of my oreo-snacking contemplation sessions. That was rancid. That left an impression.

Been trying to plan 3 things...

-a monthly women's brunch
-an annual family vacation
-an anniversary celebration

and none are really panning out.

Do people not realize that while we are born alone and we die alone, the middle is a fuck of a lot more enjoyable when you surround yourself with people you love, and people that love you back. But, it takes effort! It takes time! It takes relationship building. It takes 1 hour a month. It takes 1 week a year. It takes 1 day to spend time just talking and eating and drinking and seeing your experiences reflected in another person's eyes, to know that yes, I am here and you are here and we are alive and together! and this is what L.I.F.E. is! Everything else is extra / coating / sugar. This is the meat! The eye contact. The laughs. The shared memories. That's all we really are in the end when all that's left is ashes. We are the impressions we've left so make them deep and lasting and so juicy they spill from the pores of those who remember you, of those that loved you.
