I love it when fashion comes up with new slang that quickly spreads around the globe and I'm hoping this one is a sure thing.

It's a slight variation of business on the top party on the bottom. It could also be considered a version of high/low dressing. Instead of just mixing expensive pieces with H&M finds you're also contrasting more formal attire (cashmere sweaters, leather jackets, clean sneakers) with pajamas basically. I love the whole approachable vibe it gives off.

One of the keys to great style, I think, is to always have something in your look that is slightly... off. Call it "one of these things is not like the other". Which one is it? Can you tell? And you shouldn't really be able to. Wearing a full on suit? Pair it with sneakers. Sweatpants and a hoodie? Throw on a sport coat. Nothing that's newer than 5 years? Whip out that Rolex. People will think you're an internet billionaire. It'll be fun.

For reference, the female version...

Military jackets (considered a perma-trend like the color black, not to be confused with a perma-tan) can veer toward the extremely unsexy due to their color (dull green) and traditionally bulky, thick material. It doesn't have to be this way though. We've always loved a man in uniform so why not a woman?

Three cheers for women in the military! Though I'm sure this is not what they had in mind...

The easiest way to wear any military trend in my opinion is to contrast it with something feminine. Getting dressed follows the same age old rules of makeup. Bold lip? Leave your eyes alone. Liquid liner, false lashes, and a bold brow? Better stick with a neutral pout.

Throwing on a military jacket and don't want to look like one of the boys? Leopard booties, ruffle blouse, and a bright red skirt... not all at once please.

"YesDrillSergeant" green can also be worn casual but be careful not to make it sloppy. Again opposites provide balance. Loose on top, tight on the bottom. Add a cute, CLEAN pair of shoes and done.

I'll be wearing this little diddy from Forever 21 because it is the perfect place to indulge in a trend you're not sure about. And at $32.80 who cares what the CPW (cost per wear) is?
