.. of Shopping

The Maui Jim Baby Beach, a slightly more feminine take on the classic Ray Ban aviator made popular by hipsters, fashionistas, and let's face it Tom Cruise...

I feel the need... the need... for speed.

Let me just say I loved my Ray Ban gold framed aviators with the pink lens. I'm pink, they're pink. It was a match made in retail heaven and I have NO idea where they went. None. And I never lose sunglasses so I'm pretty positive they lost me. I have had the same pair of Oliver Peoples for almost 10 years now which sounds crazy but it's true.

So every couple of months I wander into a Sunglass Hut, or a Solstice, or a Lenscrafters and I try on my beloveds. The problem is I'm getting cheap in my old age and the price I originally paid has long since expired. When I bought them years ago they were $119 and now they're $155. Hurts me.

Come on people.

It's the same issue I have with Louis Vuitton. My paycheck is not rising nearly as fast as their material costs seem to be. Curious. But, this is what brands do. They keep pumping out their classics but raising the price. You know the classics are going to sell, that's why they're classics, so why not slowly mark them up to cover the losses on the seasonal stuff. I get it. I just don't have to pay for it, at least not twice.

The search was on for an alternative because paying more for something I already had is impossible for me. Enter: Maui Jim...

Polarized, Aviator, Tortoise, Perfection. Yes, they're more expensive but, I've never paid for them before so it's okay... get it?

I knew they'd look good on me because they look good on her...

And we look the same right? uh huh moving on...

Putting on the Baby Beach is like turning the lights off when you have a headache. My whole body instantly relaxes and the light is soothing instead of painful. Joy. Added bonus? Everyone looks cooler in shades...

update:

Not 2 hours after I finished this post, look what I found...

Of all the gin joints coffee bars, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.

So naturally I assaulted her with my outdated iPhone because that's what everyone expects when they order a coffee. Sorry about that! Totally worth it though! Small world...
